Chapter one in plastic product design book which i have started to read from last month is about PLASTIC MATERIALS I have written my reflection a short summary of this chapter:
Plastic are organic materials which are made from large molecules that are constructed by a chain-like attachment of certain building-block molecules. Plastic have divided into two categories :THERMOPLASTIC and THERMOSET plastics.
THERMOSETS:
Thermoses plastics are polymers(“poly” means many) which are useless in their raw states. they are the hardest and stiffest of all plastics, some example of this group are: phenolics , melamine, urea, alkyds, and epoxies
THERMOPLASTICS:
this group of plastics are “heat-sensitive” material which are solids at room temperature, like most metals. common examples of this group are: polyethylene , polystyrene ,polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and nylon.
